Spicy New Orleans Shrimp Linguine

Spicy New Orleans shrimp pasta with bright lemon notes, lots of fresh parsley and a warm Cajun base.

This pasta recipe was inspired by a New Orleans-style shrimp soup. We added a little heartiness with some tender linguine pasta and finished it with some bright lemon notes to balance the spicy Cajun flavors making this the perfect way to add a little southern warmth to your cold winter nights.

Step 1: MISE EN PLACE

Read though the entire recipe before getting started. Bring 6 cups water, with a pinch of salt, to a boil in a medium pot. Wash and dry all produce. Zest lemon; cut in half and then juice. Rough chop parsley leaves and stems. Mince or grate garlic. Remove shrimp from package; rinse and pat dry.

Step 2: COOK PASTA

Add linguine to boiling water; cook at a rolling boil for 10-12 min until linguine is al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain well and set aside.

Step 3: MAKE SAUCE

Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in medium pan over medium heat. Add garlic, Cajun spice blend, half lemon juice, Sriracha, and 1 cup pasta water. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low.

Step 4: COOK SHRIMP

Add shrimp and cook over a low simmer for 5-6 min until shrimp turns pink and curls up.

Step 5: FINISH PASTA

Add linguine, 2 tsp. lemon zest and half parsley to shrimp and toss to incorporate. Remove from heat and add butter pats. Allow butter to melt into the linguine and toss again.

Step 6: PLATE YOUR DISH

Divide pasta between two bowls. Top with remaining lemon juice, parsley and a pinch of extra lemon zest. Enjoy!
